"I was fortunate to work with a wide and often revolving cast of incredible musicians in Paris. I never thought of documenting any of our live shows. The point was to be in it and to be surrounded by these people, rather than to create anything that lasted beyond the moment. Looking back over these souvenirs, it seems that this strategy meant there is very little to show for what amounts to around six years of intense activity and I regret not being more forward-looking. The recordings were all made by others, who made them available to me. Nonetheless, the documents I do have remain deeply nostalgic. Impossible really to express what they represent for me, or the memories they evoke."
